Callaway 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder

I used to be the type of golfer who thought a rangefinder just wasn’t worth the investment for me. After all, I had my iPhone packed with all of the latest free golf GPS apps that told me how far I was from the front, center, and back of the green. I could save myself a few bucks and just wing it. That was until I found myself in possession of the Callaway 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder.

During my first round with the 300 Pro, I quickly learned that many of my previous yardage estimations were just flat out incorrect. I had been choosing the wrong club in many situations, and it was costing me strokes. Sure, I was in the ballpark, but the benefit of knowing the exact number that I needed to dial up was almost instantly apparent. Approach shots were coming in a bit tighter, allowing me the opportunity for several birdies in the process. How had I gone so long without this?

But wait, there’s more…

There are other benefits to this particular rangefinder. The Callaway 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder also measures for slope, and calculates how far your shot is actually playing. Those steep uphill shots require a bit of extra club, and you will no longer have to guess how much. Elevated tee box into that par 3 green? Not a problem. There is also the added benefit of gaining a more in-depth understanding of how far you are actually hitting your clubs. Simply building that knowledge over time is enough to lower your handicap.

The Callaway 300 Pro Rangefinder measures for slope as well!

The Callaway 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder is well-built, easy to use, and seems to be extremely battery efficient. It is rated to measure from 5-1000 yards range. Additionally, this model now features what Callaway calls P.A.T (Pin Acquisition Technology) with Pulse. This delivers a short vibrating “burst” to confirm that you’ve locked onto the pin, and is functional from as far as 300 yards away. I will stay that a very steady hand is required to lock onto targets that are that far away, even with the 6x magnification.

Overall, I find the 300 to be an excellent value for the money. I’m sure there are more expensive ones out there that may have an extra bell or whistle, but this is a great product from a solid golf company that stands behind their items. If I somehow found myself without it, I would quickly be in the market to purchase another. There aren’t a lot of ways to lower your scores that don’t require training and practice, but this the Callaway 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder is one of them.
